(Levels under tutelage needed) <Name of Skill> – What the Skill does
(1 Level) Frost – Attacks 1 target with Frost Damage
(4 Levels) Meditation – Raises Int when used x2
(6 Levels) Magic Ball – Attacks using a solid ball of Magic
(8 Levels) Typhoon – Wind attack against all targets
Bunyan – Fighter Master
I suggest that you have Ryu apprentice under Bunyan during the initial stages of the game. This will provide Ryu with valuable bonuses that Bunyan offers. Once Garr joins your party and Ryu has learned all of Bunyan’s skills, I recommend that you assign Garr to continue his tutelage under Bunyan indefinitely. Given Garr’s limited AP and Intelligence, he will greatly benefit from Bunyan’s stat increases.

D’lonzo – Catburglar/Thief Master
To become an Apprentice under D’lonzo, you need to possess 15 distinct weapon types in your inventory. Throughout the game, I entrusted Rei to D’lonzo’s guidance, as her enhancements in Agility and Power greatly benefit her. The only other individual I would consider training under this mentor is Ryu, albeit temporarily, to enhance his Agility. Additionally, it is advisable to allocate a Skill Ink to grant the Steal ability to a different character, excluding Rei who already possesses Pilfer.

Yggdrasil – Tree of Life Master
You must communicate with this tree solely through the character Peco.
I kept Peco by Yggdrasil until Ryu matured and gathered everyone back to the team. I suggest sticking with Yggdrassil until you’ve mastered all of his skills. His Shield skill is worth using Skill Inks on and assigning it to a character in your primary party. A skill that enhances everyone’s Defense can be very beneficial, and not many characters possess one.

Fahl – Defender Master
To communicate with this tree, you must exclusively employ the character Peco.
I stationed Peco beneath Yggdrasil until Ryu matured and successfully gathered everyone to rejoin the team. I suggest confining Yggdrassil’s presence to a limited period, allowing ample time to acquire all the skills he possesses. Particularly, I advise utilizing Skill Inks on his Shield skill and assigning it to a character within your primary party. Possessing a skill that enhances the defense of all members proves highly advantageous, as only a few characters possess such an ability.

Durandal – Cowardly Master
There are no specific requirements to become an apprentice to Durandal. Simply engage in conversation with him to initiate the apprenticeship process.
Durandal serves as a suitable Master during the initial stages of the game, especially when your character is without a Master or when there are no other suitable options available. However, if you have a perfectionist approach, it is advisable not to choose him as he possesses random stat changes. In such cases, it would be wise to assign him to a character you are less concerned about, such as Peco, in order to learn his skills and unlock Hondara.

Giotto – Fisherman Master
I firmly believe that this is the most optimal master choice for Ryu throughout the majority of the game. The only circumstance in which I would suggest changing masters is if you are specifically aiming to enhance Ryu’s stats towards the conclusion of the game. Giotto’s enhancements to HP and AP enable Ryu to prolong his time in Dragon form by 2 to 3 times compared to not having him as a Master.

Hondara – Priest Master
To be eligible for training at Hondara, one must first master all skills from Durandal. Upon completion of this requirement, Hondara will be prepared to impart knowledge to you.
I underwent training with Hondara following the acquisition of all skills from Durandal. It is advisable to prioritize training your less significant characters under Hondara, as his stat boosts are not particularly impressive. The only skill worth investing time in at this Master is Benediction.

It is advisable to consider training either Nina or Momo under Emitai, depending on which character you intend to utilize more frequently. Personally, I opted to train Momo under him in order to equip her with offensive magic spells that complement her healing abilities.

Hachio – Wyndia Castle Kitchen
Requirements: The necessary ingredients for a recipe include Swallow Eye, Beef Jerky, an Angler, and a Martian Squid. The Angler can be found in the Fishing Spot in the Urkan Region near Tidal Caves; make use of a Float to catch it. As for the Martian Squid, it can be fished up from the Fishing Spot near Mt. Myrneg using a Worm as bait.
It is entirely your choice whether or not you wish to engage with Hachio. Personally, I opted not to as his abilities are not particularly impressive, and meeting his requirements can be quite troublesome. If you do choose to become an apprentice under Hachio, focus solely on acquiring his abilities. His stat alterations are rather lackluster.
