Games every player should play at least once

While there are a number of games available worldwide, there are some that have made groundbreaking records in the world of gamers. Some of them are:

Half-life 2:

This game is a first-person shooter game presented in the perspective of the protagonist Gordon Freeman, who fights to save what is left of humanity from the hands of aliens. He works with the help of his allies like the resistance fighter Alyx Vance. Half-life 2 was released in 2004 and has many awards to its name.

Gordon fights the fight with health supplies picked up on the way and an arsenal of weapons at his disposal including:

• SPAS-12
• Sentry Gun
• Rocket-powered grenade.
• Crow bar
• Bugbait
• Crossbow.

Perhaps, the most iconic significance of Half-life 2 was its ability to use motion physics in a really dynamic way that revolutionized all other games following it. It incorporated the use of physics as a gameplay and was truly a remarkable achievement. Through this, we see chains of destruction set up by one move.

Also, Half-life 2 introduced PC gaming using steam, this involved simply downloading a game, being able to play it without installation and receiving automatic updates as well.

Half-life 2 also took a different direction from other video games at the time, by incorporating a thrilling story line with amazing characters. The game could be played on Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation.

Crysis:

This is another first-person shooter game by a German developer that takes place in Lingshan Islands. It sees a war scenario where the protagonists are military personnel and they fight against a barrage of enemies that include Korean soldiers, mercenaries and technological advanced aliens as well, also referred to as Ceph.

The game bestows on the player an advanced powered exoskeleton also known as the Nano Suit which allows them possess different modes. They include:

1. Strength mode: For super strength.
2. Armor mode: For protection
3. Speed mode: Enhanced speed
4. Cloak mode: For invisibility

The player is said to belong to the raptor team which is basically like an anti-terrorist squad sent to investigate and stop the intruders. The protagonist is allowed a barrage of weapons at his disposal which include projectiles, sniper rifles, assault rifles and so on.

Crysis can be played on Microsoft windows, playstation 3, Xbox 360. Experts all over the world have termed Crysis to be a major phenomenal technological achievement in the gaming industry, as it had character technology that was quite different and a lot better than other video games. It has a realistic concept which makes it all the more appealing.

The Elder Scrolls V; Skyrim:

Known to be one of the greatest games of all time, Skyrim was produced by Bethseda softworks and has been a thrilling experience for the whole team involved. The game sees a unique setting featuring dungeons, wilderness and so on.

This game finds setting in medieval times, exactly 200 years after oblivion, with a quest to defeat Aludin. Players are allowed to roam freely or complete quests at will. They are given the chance to develop their characters by choosing whatever form they would like their character to possess.

Overtime, as players complete their quests, the characters improve and allies are formed on the way. To improve their characters, players are required to go through a series of training after which they would advance upon reaching the requirements for said level.

The game could be played on playstation3, Xbox, playstation4, Nintendo switch and Microsoft windows.

Skyrim was able to bring to the gaming industry, storytelling that made the game seem like a whole new world, this was a major advancement as many other video games followed suit and began to incorporate gripping storylines into the mix, which definitely made gaming a lot more fun.

The witcher 3; wild hunt:

Played on Microsoft windows, playstation4 and Xbox, The Wild Hunt has numerous awards to its name. The Witcher is a role-playing game based on the watcher series of novels. It has its setting in medieval times where Geralt, the protagonist goes on a search for his daughter who is on the run, from creatures who desire her power for themselves.

Geralt possesses magical signs that enhance his abilities. Throughout the journey, Geralt fights and defeats opponents on the way, using magic and weapons at his disposal. The game has a series of quests which earns players points upon completion of said quests.

The player is armed with a steel sword for killing humans and a silver sword for killing monsters. Players loot their enemies’ corpse and use it to buy and forge weapons.

The witcher is a game like no other because of its ability to create a truly realistic concept, every scenario and location had everything that the natural environment would have; Villages had kids playing in the street, people selling their wares and so on. This game sees a very realistic concept that keeps players enthralled throughout the whole experience.

Another significance of this game was the fact that it gave the players choices; each decision had a different outcome, this made players mindful of every move they made and served as an idea for other developers who desired for more realistic gaming experience.

Street fighter IV:

This was one of the street fighter series developed in 2008. Usually played in playstation4, Nintendo 3DS, arcades, androids, playstation3 and Xbox 360, this series features a dialogue before the battle, depending on the character which makes it all the more exciting. 

It brought to us an excellent combination of classic gameplay with additional innovations. This new series introduced:

1. Focus attacks: This allowed players to easily absorb attacks and launch an equally strong counterattack  
2. Ultra-moves: A combination of long and cinematic moves.

The gaming industry probably had a lot of reasons to thank Street Fighter for, especially since they revolutionized the whole arcade experience.

In the early years, arcade games were at most really simple with a few buttons for very few moves. But street fighter IV brought a whole new meaning to arcade games, it was also one of the games that introduced dialogues among characters.

StarCraft:

The StarCraft, developed in 1998, is a military science fiction media and has numerous awards to its name including various spots in the world Guinness book of record.

It features an intergalactic struggle for dominance between different species in the Milky Way galaxy also known as kporulu sector. Perhaps, the most appealing thing about this game is the storyline.

It has served in many competitions where professional players play against each other. It also features the following:

1. StarCraft: Ghost
2. StarCraft: wings of liberty
3. StarCraft: Heart of the swarm
4. StarCraft: Legacy of the world

StarCraft can be played on Microsoft windows, classic Mac OS, macOS Nintendo 64. StarCraft was one of the first of its kind due to the fact that not many video games had its setting in various galaxies.

From here, other game developers bought the idea and began to develop. Starcraft was a turning point for its team of developers as it marked the creation of Blizzard entertainments film department.

World of Warcraft:

This game is known to be one of the highest grossing video games of all time. Players are given the opportunity to choose their own Avatar for the various quests that lie ahead.

It features a very unique setting that allows players choose from a variety of professions including cooking and tailoring. Players usually earn money and other items upon completion of their quest and could also form teams of other players for challenging quests.

 The game is amazingly unique and had in-game divisions which were referred to as realms, there were two realms:

• Normal: This was centered on the player completing quests and defeating opponents to earn points.
• Role-playing: Seemingly like the name, this realm focused on each player taking on the role of a particular game character.

Players are given the opportunity to develop their characters which also involves them acquiescing the character with a particular skill or the other, after which they would be required to select a class for the character as well.

WOW revolutionized the gaming industry by introducing subscription fees for the game. The game also allowed for a trial account for players without subscription. These subscription fees could be paid in various ways, you could pay with:

• Real time money using debt or credit cards
• Game tokens
• Prepaid blizzard cards.

World of warcraft can be played on Microsoft windows and macOS as well. The game has managed to maintain its monthly subscription over the years and has players all over the world, due to its addictive nature and interesting story piece.
