Slime Rancher Beginners Guide (Tips & Tricks)
This page contains a list of basic tips and tricks I would have known when I first began playing Slime Rancher. I’ve made every effort to provide the tips and tricks listed on this page in chronological order, starting from the beginning of the game through the final game. However, the information on this page will be useful to you at any level.
Beginner Tips and Tricks
1. Change your regular slimes into Largos, and store (at the very least) 15, in the Corrals.
Largos will produce one per slime they’re paired with. When combined with regular food, a Pink/Rock largo can produce 1 port from each type of slime and 2 plorts with their preferred food.
2. Feed slimes their favourite food, and they can eat twice as often. Plorts
3. Once you have unlocked Slime Science, you can set up drones to automate certain chores on the ranch for you.
4. If you want to make money, focus on growing your slimes in your home. When you’re looking to advance the story forward, you should focus on investigating
5. Only bother on The Range Exchange later in the game. Concentrate on establishing the farm stable first before taking a trip around the globe.
6. In the initial part of the game, you don’t need to bother in Hen-hens, or Chicken Coops
7. Feeding the Largo more than one slime could transform him into the Tarr Slime. The slime can be deadly for the rancher and shouldn’t be raised for Plorts or to earn money in any way.
8. Try mixing meat-based slimes with slimes consuming fruits and vegetables. Because it’s easier to produce fruits and vegetables by combining gardens with fruits and vegetables than to breed chickens, you’ll generally need to create Largo combinations that aid in this goal.
9. Certain slimes possess mechanisms that can create problems when placed in a room with other slimes. Quantum Slimes, for instance, can almost always escape their cages if they’re disturbed. Boom Slimes tend to blow their Plorts away from the Corrals occasionally, and Tangle Slimes can pick up any food or Plort within their cage’s confines. Not to mention, Dervish Slimes will throw all food items or Plorts around the area using their tornadoes. They’ll be more likely to do this if they’re agitated (meaning they’re not fed). Be aware of what Largo combinations you keep alongside other slimes. You could get a complete Tarr outbreak in your home if you’re not careful.
10. There is no need to rest in this game. Your character will never tire, and there is no penalty for being up all night and not sleeping.
11. Tarr Slimes are likelier to appear in the evening since Phosphor Slimes appear throughout the night.
12. Create Drones immediately, as they can automate the entire farm task
13. Make gadgets in the lab that unlock Treasure Cracker upgrades
14. Click the button on the Silo to alter the slot you keep your items. Each side of the Silo can store three different things!

Check The Settings
Slime Rancher has only a couple of settings. However they can be a major boost to the gameplay, particularly in the case where you simply need to collect slimes instead of having to deal with dangers. Here’s what you can alter and what the results will be:
- Instruction: When enabled, this will help you understand the fundamentals of exploration, managing your Jetvac and how to manage your farm. If this is your first time playing, it’s worth turning in ones it’s beneficial without being overly intrusive. It helps you understand concepts like Tarrs, plots as well as slime.
- Tarrs Slimes of Tarr occur whenever any slime consumes two parts which differ from the one it eats. The slimes of Tarr are antagonistic and will eat slimes, food or even cattle of the ranchers who are in their way. If allowed, they may also become quite common because many areas contain more than three types of slime. It is possible to eliminate slime by placing them in prohibited zones and getting them wet or letting them eat everything they see they turn against one another and explode.
- Feral slimes: Feral slimes have not been fed in the last few days. Although they aren’t as aggressive as tarts, they are a threat at first sight and could cause damage to your health. Even though you can’t lose your life, you can be returned to the ranch and your possessions destroyed, so there are consequences for being snatched by them.
- Damage to the Player, The player has none of the fall damages to the game. However, you are able to suffer the brunt of feral slimes such as tarts, tarts, or dangers like fire. This modifier lets you determine the damage level at 0.5x, 1.0x, 1.25x or 1.5x.
If you’re playing for the first time, we suggest eliminating Tarrs and Feral slimes. Tarrs, especially can be a nightmare and create a frustrating early game. Creating several saved documents is easy, so it’s worthwhile learning the basics before introducing the added risks.
