Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt Season 2 Revealed By Studio Trigger (2023)
This is why anime fans are excited about The Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt sequel and what you need to know about the show, Gainax and Trigger.
Studio Trigger revealed at its Anime Expo 2022 panel on July 2 that it was season 2 of Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt, according to the Twitter account @VamptVo. A new show was already made public in 2016, but there has yet to be a confirmation since the announcement. The announcement was accompanied by a short trailer expected to be officially uploaded.
Why Anime Fans Are Hyped For The Panty & Stocking Sequel Reveal
Production was handled by Gainax and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Kill La Kill). Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt premiered on October 1 through December 24, 2010. The comedy is about two fallen angels, now demon hunters, the flirtatious Panty and the unassuming Stocking, who follow instructions from Garterbelt and an Afro priest.
Panty & Stocking is an extreme series that takes things further than the typical Gainax Series FLCL, Abenobashi, or Gurren Lagann. It isn’t easy to define the elements that made Panty & Stocking memorable to those who weren’t a part of the show. The show incorporated a variety of tricks or an entirely different method of animation. The original soundtrack was composed by various composers, the most notable being the song Fly Away by TeddyLoid, an element of one of the show’s best aspects.
It was a skewed series in that some scenes or episodes became more memorable than others. In the age of anime blogs, one particular Kurogane previously summarized Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt by saying, “Too experimental, even for Gainax,” and I agree with him 12 years after the fact.
In the end, Panty & Stocking is worth watching so long you’re not averse to its crude humor or imagery. If you’re a fan of Studio Trigger and Imaishi’s stuff and you like Studio Trigger’s less niche and experimental shows like Turning Girls or Inferno Cop, I’m sure that you’ll be awed by Panty & Stocking.

A Quick History Of Studio Trigger And Its Gainax Origins
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt’s Director Hiroyuki Imaishi quit Gainax in 2011, along with several other members, to create Studio Trigger. The Studio Trigger team included Panty & Stocking scriptwriter Masahiko Otsuka and producer Kazuya Masumoto. With the loss of most of their talent, Gainax did nothing since, yet retained the rights to the show.
The situation was finally resolved in 2020 when Studio Trigger got the rights to Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt and Gurren Lagann. Studio Trigger is now officially announcing the addition of PSG. It’s a thrilling announcement and a dream that will come true for fans of anime who’ve been following the genre since the mid-2000s. I’m excited to see what this brand-new anime will appear like.
