The Forest Beginner’s Guide
Feel free to add or modify any aspect of this guide to make it better in the future!
Overview
The Forest is difficult and varied. The players will not just need to protect themselves from the dangers of the mutant and also fight hunger or Fatigue, Thirst, and Temperature. Players always have an easy Survival Guide that can be accessed anytime by pressing the ‘B’ button (or up if you use PS4.) The Survival Guide can instruct players how to construct shelters, construct structures or build Fires, and other details, like the safest foods to eat and which food items are harmful. The survival guide will mean that the game will continue. The player must be cautious before following the guide. To ensure that the game has not been interrupted, you can use Escape.
Survival 101
Once the person can move after his plane crash, he must carry a wide range of things located around and inside the plane that has been damaged. Booze, food, pills, items, and even the plane’s axe could be found inside the plane. Meanwhile, suitcases containing snacks, clothing, and soda are available outside. Beware After a few minutes of an accident, and the cannibals will investigate the area surrounding the plane. The battle against the enemy now depends on the individual, but hiding is advised until they depart or move towards a safe place.
As night draws near, the player is advised to construct shelters that can be constructed with the help of the survival guide and then click that icon on the item the player would like to build. It’s then the responsibility of the player to construct the shelter and gather the required resources to construct it. Some trees need to be removed, and some rocks must also be discovered. After the shelter is completed, it is time to explore the Forest, whether searching for water, food, weapons, or a safe place. If cannibals attack the victim, they could get knocked unconscious and escorted underground into the dark cave. If the player makes it to the cave’s end it is possible that they will be separated from their plane.
Tips & Tricks
Be vigilant in the morning since small cannibal scouting groups can be frequently observed. To keep away from natives, ensure it is a daily practice to avoid open areas and keep clear of flames, especially during the evening. Natives are more active during the night and are more likely to examine visible fires even though they are scared by lights (fires signal them to the player’s presence; however, they tend to stay away from lights).
It is important to note that natives will react to the presence of a player. They often scout areas with traps, buildings, effigies, fires, and traps. The more the player impacts the surrounding area, the more locals notice. They’ll also become more aggressive when they see the player’s intrusion, such as a massive fortress with effigies and fires. Even a fortress will result in frequent attacks and the appearance of more deadly natives, such as the spider mutant.
Get back to your stamina with food and sleeping, listening to your favorite cassette player, or laying on a bench made of wood and drinking soda cans for an immediate stamina boost. However, they are only a small amount and should be used only in times of need.

Various Strategies
- Big Fortress
This survival strategy is the most evident. In this scenario, the player builds a massive base populated with traps and defensive walls, effigies (if they are sane enough to allow access to the menu for puppets), and then fires to ward off and eliminate as many mutants as they can. It is moderately effective, but mutants will become more aggressive in response to this strategy, and their attacks will develop into smaller-scale attacks with deadly adversaries like the spider. This method requires a large amount of planning and effort.
- Stealth and Hiding
This is a more difficult approach, but it could be satisfying in terms of duration. This strategy has two variants: remaining active and staying away from mutants.
The wood-covered walls can also prevent them from snooping around with the lights at night.
Mobile solutions rely on the concept of ‘leaving no trace.’ This means that mutants will only be able to locate the player if the player follows predictable patterns of movement or just one place to sleep. This is a great way to elude mutants, but it can’t meet basic survival requirements. Mutants will not be more aggressive in this tactic.
- Distance solution
A distance-based solution is a way of staying as far from the mutant guards and patrols as possible. The problem with this approach is finding the best location. If the player is isolated, they will not have the necessary supplies. Mutants can see the burning fire if the person is in an open-access area. The best spot is near trees and bushes that can be used for items away from the view. Many spots along the coastline, particularly close to the boat, meet these criteria. If you can spot the presence of a patrol near you after returning to your home base, make sure you stay away from the area by avoiding trees and bushes.
- Mini-Island Approach
It’s the same maps are the same; however, the location of the spawn can be irregular. If you’re fortunate enough to get spawned in the area highlighted, there’s the slope and a beach below. Cut down leaves and sticks (for bonfires and some items needed to build the raft), chop down the logs, and then push them towards the beach (for making the raft). Create a floating raft to eliminate the shark’s jaw, which is dangerous. The Log holder and the stick holder can be put on a raft, giving ample space and comfort when sailing through the ocean. After your raft has been constructed and you are ready to go, look for the closest small island. The island is where turtles produce eggs in large numbers at night and release meat, and it is very long before it gets rotten (maybe three to four days).
Additionally, turtle shells can be turned into collectors for water and are the most reliable source of pure drinking water. You can also boil the water in a kettle and drink it. During the day, you can gather sources like sticks, logs, and even leaves from the Forest to make an evening fire and keep warm in the winter when it rains. In the evening, gather food by removing turtles that spawn on the mini-island, and cook their flesh. This method is the most effective and secure because a food supply will always exist. An issue and mutant attacks are not possible because mutants cannot swim.

The Forest – Best Main Base Locations
Where are the best places to build your base? In my guide, I give details on where the most popular patrol routes for Cannibals/Mutants are. I will also provide you with a thorough breakdown of the map and the best locations for building bases and why. Alongside providing all the necessary information to choose a suitable base, I also cover some of the locations I picked to build bases in and the reasons.
The Forest – What amenities are the best for the base of your home?
Does any of the decorations have a useful function? What number of Skin Racks or explosive holders will I require? Do I need to create a garden? The Forest Step-by-Step strategy will help you beat your opponent.
This walkthrough is intended to shed light on the more difficult features involved in The Forest and provide a step-by-step list of the things you must accomplish to win the game. Remember that because The Forest is an open-world sandbox, there are many different methods to play. This guide is only my personal view and is based on all the details I’ve gathered from playing for a few weeks.
Before doing anything, before you venture out into The Forest, you need to think about what kind of experience you want to offer yourself. If you’re hoping to be on high alert and keep the natives of the island bugging them at the Main Base, then you’ll want to establish your base in an advanced location. If you’re looking for peace and a tranquil Main Base away from danger, you should construct a less intimidating area.
1. Set up a central base for storing supplies/be secure
2. Explore some of the more accessible caves to gather equipment, such as for instance the Katana, Chainsaw, and Modern Bow
3. (Optional) Make two or three base (or home boats) at opposite ends of the island so that you have secure places to rest or save. Base Location Ideas
4. (Optional) Create a “Battle Bunker’ to farm Bones along a Cannibal patrol route
5. Make sure you have supplies such as Bones, Bone Armor, Bone Arrows, Lizard Skins Explosives, Medicine, and Bones
6. Get the Re-breather, and Key Card, and climbing axe from Caves (all of which are necessary to win the game)
7. (Optional) Explore the Forest and gather all four sets of Blueprints that are available and all Flintlock Pistol Parts, and various treasures
8. Go through the caves and finally into the Sinkhole. Go into the last cave by using the Key Card located in the Sinkhole
The Forest – All 4 Hidden Blueprint Locations
The map is hidden within the forest walkthrough. There are 4 alternative Blueprint pages that you can locate. These pages will permit you to create different decorations for your base area and the possibility of a Glider and a Tower to use that Glider. Also, you’ll be able to create a Log Track that allows you to travel a lengthy distance using the help of your Turtle Shell.
