At an epoch, Dmitri was approached by an imprisoned Jim Hopper and offered bribes to assist him in finding an escape route from the prison to return to America. United States. By their agreement, Dmitri would help him escape the prison and arrange transport to America. As the initial step of their plan, Dmitri, under the pseudonym Enzo was able to send Joyce Byers the package containing the Russian doll and a note to inform Joyce Byers she was the only one to know that Hopper remains alive. They eventually connected via payphones, and he instructed her to meet the Yuri ismaylov in Alaska and bring $40,000 cash. In exchange, Yuri would fly her to Russia to find Hopper, who, by that time, was free from the prison and was waiting to be picked up at the rendezvous location. Joyce had already informed an acquaintance from Hopper Murray Bauman about the situation and travelled to Alaska with Hopper to comply with the instructions of Dmitri.
Hopper finally found a way to take on an insecure correctional officer. After pinning him down and blowing up other guards, Hopper escaped by snowmobile to Yuri’s warehouse, where he then hid in the warehouse. However, everyone is shocked when they discover that Yuri has wholly departed from the plan to make more money for himself. He had notified the warden in the jail of Hopper and Dmitri’s plan. Police capture Hopper. Yuri also narcotics Joyce and Murray, two Americans sought by KGB and travelled to Russia to serve as prisoners. Dmitri is later detained for treason. He was later an inmate at the prison where he worked at.
At the same time, Dmitri and Hopper must collaborate to devise a new method to escape. They ultimately choose to participate in an upcoming combat with Hopper, Russian Demogorgon. In preparation, Hopper antagonized Dmitri until he tried to attack him. Hopper profited from their subsequent battle with guards to steal alcohol and a lighter from the other and planned to utilize this against Dmitri. In a prison area, Hopper vented out his displeasure with the idea that he’s cursed by the people whom he loves and even believes that he was the one who was responsible for the deaths of his daughter. Dmitri spoke to Hopper, revealing that he was married and had one child. They are then taken along with several other men for a ‘final dinner’ where they are served a bounty of food ahead of their clash with the Demogorgon later that day. As Dmitri attempts to inspire the group to stick together to emerge with the victory, Hopper reveals the morbid aspect of the meal, explaining that they’re receiving the food to ensure they can be healthy enough to feed the Demogorgon.
The following day, Dmitri, Hopper, and the other men are released into the stadium. Hopper overlooks that Joyce Murray and Joyce Murray are watching, having defeated Yuri and entered the prison to rescue their friend. When Hopper was released from jail, the Demogorgon was released, and the whole group began to fight it, which ended with many dying within the first few minutes. Hopper used alcohol and a lighter to make an ember and used it to hold back the Demogorgon in check. Inside the room of control, Joyce and Murray were able to take control and tried to open the gate leading to the arena. When the remaining group members are dead, Dmitri desperately works to open the gate the rest of the way opened, while Hopper defeats the Demogorgon. Hopper and Hopper managed and met Joyce and Murray on the opposite side. Dmitri observed the scene as Hopper and Joyce hugged each other.
The foursome, huddled inside the control room, was looking for an exit from prison. After exiting through an underground sewer, they found the remains of a lab filled with adolescent Demogorgons known as Demodogs, most likely being developed or bred for the personal use of Russians. The group escaped through the tunnel before arriving at the top of the hill, just outside the jail. In need of transportation back into America United States, Dmitri forced Yuri to take the group to the final hotel helicopter Katinka which has long been inactive. Yuri claimed that it required some minor adjustments before it could work again, even though he started to sabotage the vehicle. In the meantime, for the car to be repaired, the group demanded Dmitri call his home in the United States, claiming he had a “sick relative”. After receiving a return call, Hopper and Joyce were informed that their children were in danger. He knew they could assist them by eliminating their Demodogs and the Russian Demogorgon in prison and decided to return to their homes, leaving Dmitri to look after Yuri.
After some period, Dmitri called Yuri out to sabotage Katinka. Yuri insists that he owes the Americans nothing. Instead of resorting to threats, Dmitri reminded Yuri of his history of heroics and the increasing threat from the United States that he claimed would eventually spread to Russia. He also mentioned that Yuri was a war hero who was not helping those injured in their return to combat the giant menace. He was making the world a slum and being against the values he was a proponent of, then abandoning him. Yuri eventually caved up and started working with the helicopter.
After having defeated the final one of the Demodogs and the Russian Demogorgon in prison, Murray, Joyce, and Hopper were delighted to discover Dmitri and Yuri coming down into them in a functional Katinka.
In the same way that Hopper and Joyce were proven they were brought back into America United States following their final escape, Dmitri, Murray, and Yuri’s routes are unknown.

In connection with him through an unmanned phone, Joyce was meant to travel to Alaska with a few hundred thousand dollars to meet a man named Yuri, who would take Joyce to Russia and then return Hopper. After spotting an opportunity, Hopper blows up several guards before escaping on a snowmobile until he reaches the rendezvous spot, leaving Dmitri confused. As Joyce Murray and Joyce Murray get to Alaska, They are taken to prison by Yuri, who has advised the prison warden that Dmitri committed treachery, ignoring the plan to maximize profits for Hopper.
